The straight version of what we are, how we work, and how we make money. If anything here isn't clear, email hello@fairfinance.co.nz.
Fair Finance is a lead-generation referral service operated by Ai Operations Limited. We are not a lender, bank, credit provider, finance company, or financial adviser. We do not lend money, we do not provide credit, and we do not give personalised financial advice.
We take one application from you, and we match it to a panel of approved New Zealand lenders who we think are most likely to offer you a fair deal for your situation. Those lenders assess your application under their own criteria and make their own lending decisions. Any loan you take is a contract between you and that lender, not with Fair Finance.
Fair Finance is free to use. We're paid a referral fee by our lender partners only when a loan you apply for is settled. That fee never changes your rate. We are paid a referral fee by our lender partners, and only if a loan you apply for is actually settled. That fee is paid by the lender, not by you. It does not change the interest rate or terms you're offered, and it does not come out of your pocket.
We cannot and do not guarantee that any lender will approve you, or offer any particular rate. Approval, rates and terms are entirely up to the lender, based on their assessment of your application. Be cautious of anyone who guarantees car finance approval.
To give you an indication, we (or our lender partners) may run a soft credit check. A soft check does not affect your credit score and is not visible to other lenders. A hard credit check, which can affect your score, only happens later if you choose to proceed with a specific lender's full application.
The repayment calculator and any interest rate shown on this site, including the "from 9.95% p.a." guide rate, are indicative only. They are not a quote, an offer of credit, or a promise of any particular rate. Your actual rate and repayments are set by the lender after they assess your application.
Consumer credit in New Zealand is regulated under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act (CCCFA). From 1 July 2026, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) is the conduct regulator for consumer credit. Our lender partners are responsible for their own compliance and disclosures under that regime.
We collect your information to match you with suitable lenders and pass your application to them. We handle it in line with our Privacy Policy. By submitting an application you consent to us sharing your details with our lender partners for the purpose of assessing your application.
If you're not happy with how we've handled something, please email hello@fairfinance.co.nz and we'll do our best to put it right.
